Comprehensive Plan

The Village has started working on a Comprehensive Plan, as of June 2013, with plans to complete this project by April 2014. The comprehensive planning process will help to determine the long-term goals and aspirations pertaining to development within the community (generally a 20-year outlook). The outcome will be a plan that will guide Village officials when making decisions in regards to transportation, utilities, land use, recreation, housing, and Village services/facilities. Look for a public informational meeting in March 2014.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Rapids City will recieve sealed bids for the purchase, under the successful bid, of the fee simple interest in the following real property;


Which property is generally located at 535-19th Street, Rapids City, IL 61278 and is currently devoted to green space zoned single family R-1.

Bids for the purchase of the aforesaid interest in the above-described property are hereby invited and will be received by the Village Clerk at 1204-4th Avenue, P.O. Box 134, Rapids City, IL 61278, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday except for Wednesday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. until August 14, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. of the opening of bids. Closing of said property must occur within 30 days after bid opening. Minimum bid of $15,500.00 is required for a valid bid. Said proposals shall be addressed to:

Free Blood Pressure Checks each Thursday at Village Hall at 10:00am. If Medics have an emergency call pressure checks may be canceled without notice.

We now have a "Little Library" located at 730-17th Street, alongside of the maintenance shop. This is a take and leave books. It was donated by the Rotary Club. Please take advantage of this awesome new addition to our community!
